Stop Having Sleepless Nights Wondering If You Are Being Cheated on and Need a Divorce - Find Out Now

When you're in a relationship, you value your partner as being your source of trust and someone who you can rely on for anything. However, if you have an uneasy feeling that something just isn't right it can begin to chip away at your relationship. This uneasy feeling can get to the point to where it will make you seem insane, but the funny thing is that when you get this kinds of feelings most of the time you are right!

Cheating is a common occurrence in relationships these days and behaviorists are not sure why. Many pinpoint the fact that we live in a society that wants instant gratification. So when something better comes along, we want it! When something sets off your subconscious in your relationship your mind may begin to tell you that something doesn't seem right in your relationship anymore. If you have a feeling that your partner may be stepping outside of your relationship behind your back, we both know you are probably scared, afraid, and wondering what to do.

However, confronting a loved one who you feel in your gut is cheating can be a very tricky task. You don't want to confront him or her just to find out that they weren't really cheating. This false accusation will make you look jealous and insecure. Not to mention that falsely accusing someone of cheating will put a permanent damper on the trust in your relationship forever. If there is a chance that the marriage will be saved and not end in divorce, you want to make sure you take the correct steps to ensure that trust is unharmed.

The great news is that you don't have to be alone. Statistics show that over 40% of marriages go through an affair. The psychiatry profession is booming because of all the people in relationships who are willing to try to find out the truth via a professional. However, you might be like me and not want to hire a professional for something like this. Many people don't. The good news is that most cheaters all follow a similar plan when being unfaithful. Since we are all human, there are subconscious triggers that you can pick up on to determine if your loved one is breaking your trust behind your back.

Put an end to the sleepless nights and start taking the right steps to find out if your loved one is cheating on you. Most relationships that are outside of a marriage or main relationship are easy to detect once you learn the right scientific methods. There have been many people in your shoes before that have followed a plan and got proven results. It doesn't have to take a long time to find out if your loved one is cheating, you just have to overcome the fear and seek out the truth.

Sleep Deprivation Effects Your Health

Sleep deprivation effects your health in many ways as you are in simple terms limiting the body's ability to regroup, relax and replenish. This is the first of a number of articles which will look at the different effects on the body which a sleepless night can have. Firstly we will look at the worrying effects which sleep deprivation can have on your brain.

Effects on the brain

It will come as no surprise to those who do suffer from sleep deprivation that the effect on the brain and the body's ability to move around and think straight can be immense. A study in America back in 2001 showed that a lack of sleep has been known to bring on psychosis (or other psychiatric conditions) simply by reducing the brain's ability to link events and actions with the emotion, something which is paramount and central to an array of psychiatric conditions.

On a more basic level, a study in 2000 monitored those with sleep deprivation and those with normal sleep patterns when asked simple questions during the daytime. It was found that the brains of those with sleeping difficulties were forced to work "overtime" to make up for the general lack of alertness and awareness. There was a very stark difference between brain power and brain use for those with traditional sleeping patterns and those with just a few hours rest. This may be one reason why those who feel tired all the time do eventually have difficulties with memory loss.

However, perhaps the most worrying study with regards to effects of reduced sleep on the brain came in 2002 at the University of California. REM sleep (rapid eye movement sleep) is vital to allow the body to relax and effectively switch off but for those who only get a few hours sleep each evening a lack of REM sleep has been shown to affect the repair and growth of adult brains.

Conclusion

There is no doubt that sleep deprivation effects many areas of everyday life, your body and your mind and the fact that the body is unable to repair itself due to reduced sleeping patterns is a significant concern. If you have any issues then you should take action before it may be too late.

Back Pain - How To Overcome The Sleepless Nights

These days back pain has become a common problem amongst most people. Every second person experiences backache at some point in their lives. Sedentary and stressful lifestyles, unhealthy eating habits and non-uniform work patterns are major contributors to the causes of backache or lumbago.

Backaches can be categorized into acute spinal ache and chronic spinal ache. Acute spinal ache is when you have pain that persists for less than six months. Back pain is considered a chronic problem when it continues for more than twelve weeks.

Backache is often a radiating kind of pain and can affect other parts of the body like neck, legs and buttocks. This backache can be the result of muscle, ligament or tendon strain. Sometimes spinal ache can also be a sign of some other illness such as heart attack, kidney problems and gall stones. Hence it is advisable to pay attention to the pain and consult a doctor as soon as possible.

Chronic back pain can be treated by a variety of methods. The options include surgery, yoga, pillages and homeopathic treatments. While surgery is an option in extreme cases, alternative methods can help in less severe cases. Chronic backache can also be eased by physical therapy. An experienced physical therapist can make a huge difference in easing the persistent pain.

Physical therapy includes one or a combination of exercises such as low impact aerobics, biking, swimming, walking, strength training exercises on the lumbar extension, regular flexibility exercises, contraction callisthenics that retrains back muscles and yoga, tai chi or Pilates exercise. Apart from this there are many home remedies that can provide relief from lumbago.

These remedies have been tried and tested and are as old as time:

1. Garlic: Garlic is also known magic herb. Two to three cloves every morning can make a huge difference. Back massage from garlic oil can provide a lot of relief

2. A daily intake of fish oil can work wonders in alleviating backache

3. Another home remedy for providing relief from back ache is to drink a mixture of powdered dried ginger, eating soda and salt in hot milk or hot water

4. Turmeric can also be applied to ease back problems.

Apart from these remedies there are other ways of providing relief from chronic back pain [http://www.7minutelowerbackpaincure.com] which include:

1. It's advisable to sleep on a firm mattress. Try sleeping on your back or side and avoid the face down position

2. Temporary relief can also be sought with the application of heat or infrared lamp to the affected area.

Spinal ache can rob you of your sleep; hence it is important to pay attention to it before it turns chronic. It is also advisable to watch your weight and diet. A light exercise regimen can goes a long way in preventing aches and pains. Regular intake of anti-oxidants like citrus fruits such as oranges and dry fruits like almonds also help in preventing it.

Seven Ways To Guarantee A SLEEPLESS Night

Many insomniacs swear by the methods I am going to write about. They will guarantee you sleepless nights for many a night to come! You will wake bleary eyed and irritable and it will be impossible to live you with during the day.

1.Answer all your emails very late at night. The light from your computer and the screen are so bright that this will trick your brain into thinking it is early on in the day and so this will definitely keep you awake into the small hours. It is just like working in bright sunlight! Not only that but all those problems and scam offers will keep your brain on red alert for a long time. No risk of succumbing into drowsiness.

2.Whatever you do, do NOT get any sunlight during the day. This will make sure that your melatonin supplies will remain constant during the day so you will be drowsy and irritable thereby guaranteeing a wakeful night. Your melatonin reserves will all have been used up so you are ready and alert to face the dangers of the night!

3.Avoid LAVENDER like the plague. This has been known to bring on sleep so you should make sure that your house is lavender-free. I know some weirdos who even put it inside their pillow slips. That is kinky, if you ask me. The aromatherapy brigade will fill your house with all sorts of smells if you let them. Myrrh is another smell to be avoided.

4.Make sure that ALL the lights in your house are on, long before you to bed. No point in going to bed anyway as you are not going to sleep. Dim lighting has been known to bring on sleep and drowsiness.

5.When you go to bed make sure that your alarm clock (hardly necessary!) is in full view- i.e. right next to your face on the bedside table. Light from that plus checking it all through the night will guarantee sleeplessness.

6.Make sure that the temperature in your bedroom is turned up as you do not want to catch cold. If you do decide to lie down (not to sleep,of course!), you should be wearing woolly pajamas and not less than two duvets should be on your bed.

7.Plan all your strenuous activity such as a really long workout in the gym in the late evening.
Reading, work on the computer should be very demanding - even work emails may be beneficial at this late hour. A scary thriller rather than a boring crossword is recommended. Avoid knitting late at night as boring repetitive actions bring on sleep and you do not want that, do you?

How do you survive all the sleepless nights?

Surviving all the sleepless nights that come with the house with a newborn:

So here I am back in my local watering hole with a quick beer on the way home. See, I have to this club Pass Bar "La Peña de Taurine" (a Spanish version of the local labor) to come to my house, because at the end of my street and this is the problem, I do not go. I stop and go anyway, I'm here my business hat and stop again how happy I am insideTwins ...

"It's much easier with two children at the same time, because you get through all the steps again, no need to start all over again when the second child arrives. We only diapers Jenny came when Peter and we had to start over all over again! "

Now, these kinds of statements always seem to loose ooze from the mouths of people who are not twins and have little or no experience in the formation of twins.

So what really is so, howTwins?

First, let me explain that I think all children under 6 months, only two legs, machines that produce waste anyway. Let's do everything you are eating, sleeping, creating organic waste. I know of no other man just been invented on this planet more effectively turn milky white fluid called, in a bright green and / or basic yellow substance, which from a distance as the nearest village smell!

In any case, there are some subtle differences in the context of a child at a time orTwins. First, in a normal infant sleep patterns for about three hours, when we say something, Jenny 9 pm to sleep, we sleep at 10 or after 11 pm. Some quick lunch hours sleep and we are a dozen clock until the first feeding, we will back to bed around 1am we give up to 4 clock before the next feed. If both parents share the responsibility to stand up and turn every time you can squeeze almost six hours sleep a night. Not bad.

NowTake the same night, but with twins. A friend at work had identical twins, who were completely in sync with each other. He awoke at once and went to sleep at the same time, so in this case, it would be very similar to the previous example, but our girls are twins and are completely out of sync with the other fraternal go so that our night would be normal something. ..

Rebeca bed at 9 pm, Laura asleep at 10 pm, sleep at 11 clock, Rebeca wakes up at midnight and goes back toby 1 clock at night to sleep just in time for Laura to wake up again at 2 pm. Let's go back to sleep and wakes up at 3 am, Rebeca again the morning of 4 clock, back to sleep for 5am and Laura wakes up at 6 am ... Now tell me their twins easier. The only solution we came up with was that between 10pm and 8am every parent should take responsibility for a child. I look through the nights and Rebeca Maria takes care of Laura.

This worked for us, although I can not remember what its like to share a bedwith my wife more than I usually always that if she is, but 16 months, usually getting up only once and slept with Laura quite often. What keeps you sane is the recognition that it is better, but I can not help wondering if I sleep my first night full of special moments for me again these three in the morning and miss the closeness, the returns with rocking a baby to sleep?

One Sweet Love - Sara Bareilles

One Sweet Love by Sara Bareilles. This has a text, so you can sing a long with her ... Just when the shadows I call strip my mind and the courage to follow paint a portrait of my mystery Only close my eyes and imagine you're here with me a face without a name, I look to sit and watch the waves up not to me "king gone A heart I'd swear to recognize is my own devices .... I might have wrong? [CHORUS] The time that I have taken I pray is not wasted already I tasted myPiece of One Sweet Love? Sleepless nights you creep inside of me Paint your shadows on the breath that we share something more than my mind You take my reason not to care. No ordinary wings I'll need the same sky I will again give the things I dreamed I can do, I open the moon for you to come down soon [CHORUS] The time that I met, please do not waste I already tasted my piece of One Sweet Love? Ready and waiting for a heart worth breaking But I'd be happyfor an honest mistake on behalf of One Sweet Love. Enjoy the pain, the pain to enjoy the rain softened the south as I do not see that we will be hoping that there is a she. The earth, the space between them, I would ban under me ... you. Your unexpected love provides my solitary suicide ... Oh, I know [CHORUS] The time that I have taken I pray is not wasted I already tasted my piece of One Sweet Love? Ready and waiting for a heart worth...

"Al Perkins is such a great steel guitar player. At the very of the song, I held my breath, because I didn't know if he was going to make it. But he grabbed it. The flow that he gave to "Crazy Arms" is brilliant. It was almost like he was singing it himself. When I was in the vocal booth, I was able to see Al play. I would watch him bend his head - it was like he was putting his whole body into what he was playing. It was such a wonderful recording session." Sleepless? You're Not Alone

Nothing feels more lonely than being wide awake when you should be sleeping. The hustle and bustle of the world (at least your side of it) slows to a whisper, the streets are empty and dark, even the wind no longer rustles the trees. Surely everyone else is sleeping peacefully while you toss and turn or walk the floors. Your thoughts are a whirlwind. And you wonder, after yet another sleepless night, how will you ever make it through the next day?

The truth is you are not alone. Up to 60 million would-be sleepers in America suffer from long-term insomnia in any given year. And there's no reason to believe that the world is sleeping any better. An Italian study found that 28 percent of participants had insomnia or sleep disorders. Anyone can have difficulty sleeping at night, but it becomes more likely if you are female and as you get older.

Some of the top reasons for not being able to sleep include excessive worry and depression. The effects of sleep deprivation often show up in other areas of life. If you have trouble sleeping, you're more likely to be involved in a traffic or work accident. Billions of dollars are spent for medical care every year as people try to cure their inability to sleep well.

Looking for an answer at your pharmacy is not always the best plan. There are many natural remedies that are time-tested, potent solutions to the problem of insomnia. From aromatherapy to reflexology, natural cures provide real results that work harmoniously with your body. These alternative remedies are also in balance with your budget as well as nature.

People often find that making minor adjustments to their diet or developing a set of bedtime routines can make a huge difference in their ability to fall asleep. Curing your insomnia might be as simple as reducing your intake of some foods or adding new ones to your menu.

If you have just suffered through another sleepless night or even if you're living through one right this minute, know that you are not alone. Millions of others have traveled this path before you. Some have found a natural option that can restore the natural rhythm of sleep without seeking out chemically manufactured products.

How Do You Survive All Those Sleepless Nights?

Surviving all those sleepless nights that come with having a new born baby in the house:

So here I am once again in my local watering hole having a quick beer on my way home. You see I have to pass this bar "La Peña de Taurina" (A Spanish version of your local labour club) to get to my house because it's at the end of my lane and that's the problem, I don't pass it. I stop and go in. Anyway here I am minding my own business and listening once again to how lucky I am having twins...

"It's so much easier having two children at the same time because you get through all the stages once, you don't have to start all over again when the second child comes along. We'd just got Jenny out of nappies when Peter arrived and we had to start all over again!"

Now these types of loose statements always seem to ooze from the mouths of people who don't have twins and have little or no experience in bringing up twins.

So what's it really like having twins?

Firstly let me state that I think all babies under 6 months old are just two legged waste producing machines anyway. Let's face it all they do is eat, sleep and produce organic waste. I don't know of any other man made invention on this planet so efficient in turning white liquid called milk, into a luminous green/yellow nuclear substance that you can smell from as far away as the next village!

Anyway lets look at some subtle differences in having one baby at a time or having twins. Firstly taking a normal new born baby's sleep pattern of around three hours, if we get little Jenny to sleep at say 9pm, we can get to sleep ourselves around 10pm or 11pm at the latest. A quick hours nap and we're up around twelve midnight for the first feed, we get back to bed around 1am giving us till 4am to sleep before the next feed. If both parents share the responsibility, take turns and each get up once you can squeeze almost six hours sleep in a night. Not bad at all.

Now lets take the same night but with twins. A friend at work had Identical twin boys who were completely in sinc with each other. They woke at the same time and went back to sleep at the same time so in that case it would be very similar to the example above, but our girls are Fraternal twins and are completely out of sinc with each other so our normal night would go something like...

We get back to sleep at 3am and Rebeca wakes up again at 4am, we get back to sleep for 5am and Laura wakes up at 6am... Now tell me its easier having twins. The only solution we came up with was that between 10pm and 8am each parent one would take sole responsibility for one child. I look after Rebeca through the nights and Marie looks after Laura.

This has worked for us although I can't remember whats its like to share the bed with my wife anymore as I'm normally getting out when she's getting in, but some 16 months on, we normally only get up once and Laura quite often sleeps right through. What keeps you sane is the knowledge that it does get better but I can't help wondering, when I finally get my first full nights sleep again, am I going to miss those special moments at three O'clock in the morning and the closeness that comes with rocking a baby back to sleep?

Sleepless Nights Will Affect You, Your Health and Your Wealth

Research has shown that most adults do not get enough sleep. On average you should get no less than 6 to 8 hours of sleep a night. The concern about not getting enough sleep is that the next day you may pay for it with a headache, irritiability, fatigue, memory loss, reduced attention span, and poor comprehension and attention span. In addition over time sleep deprivation can lead to potentially serious medical conditions.

Medical experts have stated that suffuicent sleep ranks up there with a healthy height/weight ratio and physical activity, as noted in an article in the Annals of Internal Medicine, in terms of its effects on a individual's health. Some sleep researches suggest that daytime sleepiness should be considered as important a vital sign as high blood pressure or rapid heart beats.

Our over worked, overscheduled society bears much of the blame. Lack of sleep will affect your productivty at work and in life. A significant number of sleep deprived individuals have health conditions that prevent them from getting the proper sleep they need. As per the National Institutes of Health, and estimated 10% to 15% of the U.S population has chronic insomnia. Chronic insomnia is defined as the inability to get to sleep or stay asleep or early awakening. Another 5% of the popualtion suffers from sleep apnea. Sleep apnea means that the individual stops breathing for brief periods during sleep. Another 5% of individuals are wakened by restless leg syndrome. However, for the average individual the cause of sleeplessness is usually due to stress.

Stress can lead to certain illnesses if it is not recognized and decreased. As you can see lack of sleep can have serious consequences for You, Your Health and Your Wealth. Each year fatigue contributes to 100,000 highway accidents which unfortunately includes 1,500 deaths. One research study stated that getting only a few hours of sleep resulted in driving impairment which equals several alcoholic drinks. Your reaction time is also 50 % slower then those who get the required amount of sleep.

Lack of sleep can raise blood pressure, cause weight gain, increase your heart rate, lead to hormonal imbalances, heart disease, the development of type 2 diabetes, a depressed immune system, mood disturbances and psychiatric disorders. In addition up to 40% of individuals with chronic insomnia suffer from clinical depression.

Sufficient sleep is necessary for a healthier you. You , Your Health and Your Wealth are dependent on it. Invest in Yourself everyday.

Simple Solutions For Sleepless Nights

Habitual sleepless nights are a clear signal that something in your life needs to change. The question is, what? With so many possible causes, beating insomnia can sometimes seem confusing. Fortunately, it only seems that way. Let's simplify things. There are three basic ways to combat sleeplessness: medical aids, natural solutions or psychological relief. No matter how many different treatments you may find, they can usually be classified into one of these three categories.

When should you look for medical aid? Obviously, if you think your sleepless nights are connected to a medical condition, you should see your doctor. Keep in mind that many health professionals have been trained to prescribe sleeping pills. This type of treatment is not always appropriate. Prescription sleep aids may not accomplish your sleep goals, even for the short term. Using sleeping pills for a long period of time could end up worsening your condition.

Natural solutions for insomnia are very safe. They are also more effective than you might think. Unless there is a specific medical condition (like back pain, for example) keeping you awake, natural treatments are preferred for relieving insomnia. Natural solutions include herbal remedies, changes in daily habits and schedules, aromatherapy and acupuncture.

Mental factors like anxiety, stress and depression are among the top causes of insomnia. Getting psychological help is an excellent way to reduce your number of sleepless nights. Psychological help for sleeplessness is much more than telling stories of childhood from a therapist's couch. Other treatments that fall into this category include relaxation techniques, meditation exercises and hypnosis.

The real challenge of sleepless nights is finding out the cause. Insomnia is a symptom, not a disease. So knowing that you have insomnia is just the first step. Your next task is discovering the cause. Once you understand the cause, treatment is usually pretty simple. Just remember that success means more than just sleeping at night. Your goal should include feeling better during the day as well.

There is no good reason to delay seeking help for sleepless, restless nights. The stakes are too high. The consequences of sleep deprivation are too dangerous. Determine the cause, which will lead you toward certain types of treatments. Then start trying out different treatments to figure out which one works best for you.

Sleepless Nights? Try Herbal Supplements

Insomnia is the failure to obtain an adequate amount or quality of sleep. The difficulty can be in falling asleep, remaining asleep, or both. Persons with insomnia do not feel refreshed when they wake up. Insomnia is a widespread symptom that affects millions of people, and may be caused by many conditions, diseases, or circumstances.

People who are divorced, widowed, or separated are more likely to have the problem than those who are married, and it is more frequently reported by those with lower socioeconomic status. Short-term, or transient, insomnia is a common occurrence and usually lasts only a few days. Chronic, orlong-term insomnia lasts more than three weeks and increases the risk for injuries in the home, the workplace, and while driving because of daytime sleepiness and loss of concentration. Chronic insomnia can also lead to mood disorders like depression.

Herbal Supplements To Alleviate Insomnia

A large segment of healthcare professionals are capable of recognizing and treating insomnia, however when a patient with chronic insomnia does not respond to treatment, or the condition is not adequately explained by the patient's physical, emotional, or mental circumstances, then more wide-ranging tests by a sleep disorder specialist could be warranted. Other treatment options include alleviating any physical and emotional problems that are contributing to the condition and exploring changes in lifestyle that will improve the situation.

New York City- The Sleepless Neon (a Poem With Notes)

The bulky skyline danced around me

The first time I drove through its winding maze--.

Flimsy I felt in this Roman candle like city,

With grand towers, and bridges, uncountable

Side streets--cars hissing!

It is one big sleepless neon city--;

What a rush, it gives.

Here you don't run out of people

You just run yourself down

Trying to keep in step

With the curious!...

Note: Long over due is this poem on New York City--for I've been there four times, equal to Paris, and I've never been to any city four times other than these, and I've been to almost every big city in the world, so, yes, New York City is special. To be frank, and honest, I feel much safer in New York City than such cities as Buenos Aires, or Santiago, Chile, Lisbon, or Madrid, or for that matter, Chicago, or Minneapolis, Minnesota, and I live in Lima, and St. Paul, Minnesota, and I feel saver still in New York City. Anyhow, as I was saying, the poem is over due. It was written while in traveling in Cajamarca, Peru, a beautiful city of 165,000-folks, in a very green valley (9:01 PM, 5-06-2007). #1808

The number one thing I love in the city is always seeing the Empire State Building, the most impressive building in the world. And I like Central Park, and the big museum next door. I like getting pizza or a sand wish brought up to my hotel room, and watching CNN at night. And I like walking down along the banks, and seeing the Statue of Liberty, actually my wife who has been around the world with me, feels that is the most precious landmark in the world, her being a Peruvian.

Totally New Moms - Sleepless and Lovin' It

For weeks, you've gone to the bathroom three times every night, slept faithfully on your side instead of your back, and snacked in the wee hours of the morning. Making a baby is hard work, even when you're trying to sleep. And once your prince or princess is born, the string of sleepless nights is just beginning.

A forty-something friend has been trying unsuccessfully to have a baby for many years. Last week, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. When she talks about that one-week old miracle, she glows. Even though she's sleep deprived and exhausted from nursing, she is radiant. So what's the secret to being a totally new mom who is full of joy?

1. Relish the moment. When you're looking at your tiny baby, whether it's after a diaper change or as you're feeding him or her, consider the words to this song "Miracle of the Moment" by five-time Grammy winner Steven Curtis Chapman:

"So breathe it in, breathe it out. Listen to your heartbeat. There's a wonder in the here and now. It's right there in front of you. And I don't want you to miss the miracle of the moment."

2. Put your baby's early days in perspective. Remember what it took to get you to this place and let your heart fill with gratitude for being a mother. When things get tough, think of how quickly these days will pass. Before you know it, you'll be taking your child to soccer practice or violin lessons in a minivan.

3. Eat right and exercise. Being healthy isn't just good for your waistline; it's a great way to lift your spirits. It's proven that enjoying a variety of good nutritious food will help manage depression and elevate your mood. Try eating super foods like salmon, spinach, peas, chickpeas, chicken and turkey. Do light stretches and walking after baby is born as long as you're comfortable doing so.

4. Simplify your life. Having a newborn is a full-time job. This isn't the time to take on a new project. Your house doesn't have to be perfectly clean. Emails don't have to be answered on the same day they're received. Focus on being a new mom. Don't be afraid to say no to others.

5. Put something for yourself on the calendar. Being a new mom is a job unlike any other. There are no coffee breaks, evenings off, or pretty suits to wear. You are a 24-hour caregiver. To make the most of your new role, plan things that will renew your mind, body and spirit. Don't just have good intentions about taking care of yourself. You have to put it in the calendar or it won't happen. Schedule things like: Monday night, 30 minutes of reading all by myself while my husband watches the baby. Have events to look forward to so you don't drown in the monotony of diapers and feedings.

The first weeks and months with your baby are some of the most special days of your life. Smile often, take lots of pictures, and remember to enjoy the miracle of the moment.

Sleepless Nights

If you experience frequent sleepless nights, please read on as I will be giving tips and advice on how to beat insomnia.

Most of us have experienced a sleepless night at least once in our lifetimes. There are many factors that can contribute to a sleepless night; worry, stress and anxiety are common problems. Financial issues, relationships and work can all create unwanted emotions and thoughts that can affect our daily lives as well as sleep.

Stress, anxiety and worry can be caused by minor factors, but yet these can have detrimental effects on our emotional behavior; being stuck in traffic, having a bad day at work, going to an interview, taking a test and something as little as burning toast can build up unwanted stress during the day.

A sleepless night is nothing to get alarmed about. It's often difficult to let go of thoughts at night. Often when we are able to tackle the cause of worry or anxiety we are able to rest at night. It's important that we do tackle the cause of the problem quickly as prolonged experience of sleeplessness may become a learned habit and develop into insomnia.

For the insomniac a sleepless night is an all too familiar occurrence. Insomnia sufferers usually complain about having disturbed, insufficient and non-restorative sleep, and generally:

have difficulty falling asleep
have difficulty staying asleep
have difficulty going back to sleep after waking up at night
feel drowsy or tired on awakening in the morning
feel excessively tired or sleepy during the day

Many people find it difficult to let go of worrying or troubling thoughts at night. If you try not to think of a pink elephant, you'll probably think of one. If you try to get an annoying pop song out of your head, you'll probably fail. And if you have to try and fall asleep, you're probably already suffering from insomnia. Fact is sleep isn't supposed to be forced; it's a natural process which just happens.

Often an insomnia sufferer will try to relax, but slip into the mode of thinking random thoughts involuntarily, only to get frustrated and find that they are even more awake. On other nights they may feel that their mind empties however they struggle to relax physically enough to fall asleep. They may feel tense and irritable.

It's important to realize that the day reflects the night and that the sleep process does not begin as soon as you rest your head on your pillow. It's important to wind down in the evenings and relax during the day. Factors such as your mood, emotions, diet, the amount of sunlight and exercise you get play an important role in how well you are able to sleep at night.

If you suffer from sleepless nights and have trouble relaxing enough to sleep at night, begin by paying attention to your sleep habits and your stress and emotional levels in the day.

Famous "Sleepless in Seattle" Houseboat For Sale

Who can forget how handsome and sad Tom Hanks looked as bereaved widower Sam Baldwin when he moved with his young son to a sleek houseboat on Seattle's charming Lake Union in the 1993 blockbuster chick flick, "Sleepless in Seattle". Remember him standing on the deck of the houseboat, elbows on the railing, gazing at the stars as the city lights danced on the water? Bitter-sweet perfection.

Recently, the real owners of the famous floating residence have put it on the market. How much would you pay to own a legendary houseboat? The asking price is a cool $2.5 million. You may need some time to think about it!

Houseboats and Hollywood

Houseboats have been the settings for several of Hollywood's most memorable films. In "Sleepless in Seattle", the houseboat provided the perfect setting for Sam Baldwin to grieve the loss of his wife, contemplate life and start over. Even though Sam Baldwin and romantic co-star Annie Reed, played by Meg Ryan, weren't together until the final two minutes of the movie, the audience always knew that they were going to live happily ever after on that magnificent houseboat.

Fifteen years after the movie debuted, the houseboat continues to be a top Seattle tourist attraction.

A Countess and a Houseboat

Another famous movie that featured a houseboat was actually called "Houseboat". The 1958 film stars romantic lead Cary Grant as Tom Winters, divorced father of three, and the beautiful ingénue Sophia Loren as Cinzia Zacardi. Even though the plot was a bit preposterous, Grant and Loren made it a warm, romantic comedy.

Cinzi, who is really a countess, escapes her overly protective lifestyle and gets a job taking care of Winters' three children. When their home is destroyed, they are all forced to live on a dilapidated houseboat on the Potomac River. Funny and endearing, Winters soon fall in love with his beautiful, mysterious housekeeper and the movie builds to a happy Hollywood ending. Funny and endearing, "Houseboat" became a big box-office hit and was nominated for two Academy awards.

From Romance to Sheer Terror

Long before "Sleepless in Seattle", there was the legendary 1962 thriller, "Cape Fear", which starred Robert Mitchum as the criminal Max Cady and Gregory Peck as Sam Bowden, the prosecuting attorney who got him convicted.

Released from prison, Cady is hell-bent on revenge against Bowden and his family. In a deadly cat-and-mouse game, Cady stalks and threatens Bowden's family until they leave town and flee to the safety of their river houseboat. They don't know that Cady has hitch-hiked a ride underneath their car.

"Cape Fear" builds to a heart-pounding climax when Cady sneaks aboard the houseboat and attacks the whole family in a scene so scary that the Bravo channel ranked it #36 in their list of the top 100 scariest scenes in American film history.

Even though the plots of these three movies have nothing in common, they do share the fact that a houseboat created the right setting to create the mood the director wanted. Houseboats, as Hollywood has proven, make extraordinary settings for life's dramas and transitions on and off the silver screen.

Sleepless Nights with your Baby

Mothers are lacking sleep - New research by Mother & Baby magazine reveals some shocking statistics. Their survey shows that for the first four months of a newborn's life, mothers are surviving on an average of three-and-a-half hours' sleep a night. Half of those surveyed said that sleeplessness had caused rows with their partners, 13% had nearly broken up because of it and 3% had actually split up. Hardly surprising is the 83% of respondents who said that sheer exhaustion put them off sex.

Which is all rather grim reading, particularly when we look at the amount of sleep our own mothers used to clock up - on average a very healthy six hours.

So why such a massive shift? The report points to an increasing reliance on gadgetry such as baby monitors, breathing sensors, video monitors, mattresses fitted with alarms and suggests that these actually put more pressure on parents because they're less likely to relax. Editor of Mother & Baby, Elena Dalrymple, said: "Just as a watched kettle never boils, so a watched baby never sleeps".

Wake the father! But one of the most disappointing statistics unearthed by the survey is that only 23% of dads wake up when the baby cries. Which means a whopping 76% of dads enjoy blissful slumber while the mother does the hard graft (getting up an average of four times a night the report states).

We all know how difficult it can be to function after a disturbed night's sleep so the cumulative effect of night after night of sleeplessness can be profound. It's hardly surprising that new mums vent their frustration on their partner. And when you consider that many new mums are back in full-time work by the time their baby is six months old, the pressure can be immense.

So what's the solution? Elena says it's essential for "...parents to work as a team so they can get through this difficult time more harmoniously'. Quite. But also for new mums to know that it's OK to admit they're absolutely knackered and to grab any opportunity that comes their way to claw back some of those sleep-starved hours.
